For the past few months I’ve put on my incredibly inexperienced wring cap in an attempt to write a formal script for my next animated short film, “TOOK.” In the past I sorta just doodled and let the story develop organically through the rough storyboard process. I had mixed results with this method, but ultimately I found it to be inefficient for creating anything of substance. This time I wrote a full script (a whole 10 pages!) and I put months of research and development into those pages. I was also fortunate enough to receive feedback from some of the greatest writers I’ve ever known. I won’t name names but one was instrumental in the editing process and without her I’m sure this whole thing would have been a train wreck on top of a pile up on top of an overcooked slice of pizza. Here is a rough sketch of Matt, the villain of the short.
