Step By Step Paint/Sketch Tutorial

Hey Classy viewers, This time I’ve decided to give you guys a step by step tutorial of one of my digital painting processes. This particular style uses Artrage (or Corel), PS and of course a surplus of creativity. WARNING: This process is in no way fastest or the easiest way of painting digitally but for a painting enthusiast it can easily be one of the most rewarding and unique processes.

1. First start with a doodle ( I did this on the side of my page with no reference during a boring conference meeting)Screen shot 2013-10-22 at 4.40.47 PM

2. Bring it into your preferred digital painting program and paint colors based on how you feel at the moment (still no reference).

3.Get it to a point where you think it would be easier to detail and touch up in PS. Your base colors should be down.

4. Finish the detail and touch ups in PS. This style has pros and cons but the biggest con for many is that fact that it relies heavily on your own mental renderer ( how much talent you have, how many studies you have done, what you know of the natural world, core fundamentals). Anywho, there you go. Fux wit if you want hahaha.

Greg Mitchell, It’s almost CTN time!
