Oldschool Layout Study
I finished up my warm-up from yesterday. Doing these “Disney-ish” studies are helping to increase my library of forms and make doing intricate details more of the norm. I tend to get lazzzzy with that…. Anywho, this took around 2 hours between both days. Greg Mitchell, On my grizzy

Old School Layout Warm-up
Todays warm-up/ study was based heavily on some some old school Disney works. I need to get used to putting more time into my layout line work, I tend to rush through it and it shows.

Painting Study
I didn’t finish this one, but I learned quite a bit from it. Same procedure as usual in terms of how I did this study.

Colors from me
I’ve been doing quite a bit of digital repaint studies lately but for this study I chose colors based upon how I wanted a little scene to feel with no reference at all. The studies have definitely helped my sense of color but my scenes all feel flat to me and they lack the gut…

Today’s Studies
Same procedure as before. One layer, no color picker, no adjustments, but this time under 45 min each. © Gregory Mitchell 2013

Another Study
This took around 4 hours in-between watching Teen Wolf. I’m pushing digital to have a traditional feel by painting on one layer and using zero tricks (not even undo….alright I lied I do use undo but no color picker or adjustments!) Greg Mitchell, Swag out © Gregory Mitchell 2013

Drawings from Life
Yesterday I went out and did drawings of two locations, Starbucks outside seating and Bethesda Park. They each took around and hour and were done using pen and graphite on 8.5″x 11″ sheets of copy paper. Fun Stuff! © Gregory Mitchell 2013
