Quick Hands Study

It’s been quite a while between my recent blog posts. For the past few months I’ve been slammed working on a graphic novel for an up and coming rapper named Kyle over at Indie-Pop. It’s been an incredible experience so far and I’ve learned so much . One, I can accomplish what I need to in graphic novel form and I don’t have to attempt to be 10 people to make rapid animations. Two, I can “direct” graphic novels and tell long form stories in reasonable amounts of time. When I say “direct” I mean composing the shots and staging the characters as if it were all being shot on film. I’m just drawing instead of shooting which is a ton of fun for me.I’ll be an animation director one day and this is the way to practice. Also now that the layouts and ink work are practically done I can finally get back to my favorite part of visual art…Color! Wow it’s been sooooo long since I’ve used anything other than black or grey. So much life is embedded within color and I’m ecstatic to explore it more this time with a solid grasp on the other drawing principals. I just realized that I couldn’t really draw people until like now haha. This graphic novel will be done in a couple of weeks and I’ll be putting out work for my personal projects in the meantime as well as studies like I used to. Speaking of studies. Check out dem handsss!
