When I’m too lazy (or stretched for time) to go outside and do a formal plein air warm up I’ll paint the lamp beside my cintiq. It’s always a bit of a challenge getting down some of the subtle reflections and pulling life out of such a desaturated palette is difficult but I think it’s still very important. Not everything you work on is “fun” per-say but it is necessary to cement a solid understanding of the world. That way, when you do paint the fun stuff people will truly be able to enjoy it. Thats my stand…Allstate haha.
